Bo Weezy: From My pops & my uncles. They were big time in Dade & Broward County (Cosmic Funk & Instumental Funk Djs). Also my main man Dj Skip-A-Chuck (R.I.P.) got me going in Tally-Ho!

850Live: What are some of the positives and negatives of being in The Industry?
Bo Weezy: You get to meet a lot of people & learn interesting things damn near everyday! Always on the GOOOOOO! When do we get to Sleep? Always on the grind but hard work pays off!

850Live: What are some of the things you see yourself doing in the future?
Bo Weezy: Being a tour Dj for an artist or gettin' on the radio!

850Live: What is the craziest thing you’ve seen working in the clubs?
Bo Weezy: You name it! From girls dancing LOOSE, to seeing it rain $ lookin' like Hurricane Andrew, to dudes gettin knocked out!

JANELLE NADINE started her career at the studio of George Clinton in Tallahassee, Florida, working with Steve Boyd on her first single “Stop Drifting.” Since then, she has wasted little time by working hard to build an extensive catalog and work with producers from all walks of genres. ADDICTED TO THE MUSIC

Everyone has a vice. For some it is gambling, shopping, sex, booze or another intoxicant but for Southern Boy’s RANDY B. the drug of choice is music. RANDY B. is attracted to all good music, but he is especially addicted to creating his own.

Not one to leave his hands in the destiny of others, RANDY B. is an avid believer in the do-it-yourself style of music. “Music has been instilled in me since birth,”RANDY B. is proud to announce. His father, a high school band teacher, nurtured his son’s musical curiosity by allowing RANDY B. to march alongside him in the band in addition to cultivating his natural talents. As a result RANDY B. has grown to create, produce, and write his own music through his strongest instruments, piano and drums.

RANDY B.’s guidance did not end under a careful paternal eye. RANDY B. recently sojourned to Atlanta to collaborate with today’s talented tenth led by Tricky Stewart (Beyonce’s “Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)” & Rihanna’s “Umbrella”), The-Dream(artist/songwriter, J. Holiday, Usher, Mariah Carey) and Sam Salter (Boyz II Men, B2K, & Sisqo’). With the help of these musical giants, RANDY B. learned “how to give the people what they want by being yourself and finding your own sound.”

To that end, “I have taken my experiences and made them entertaining,” explains RANDY B. The results have been soul stirring records such as “It’s Over Now,” “Let It Be,” “Candyman,” ,“Slip Away” produced by the renowned hitmaking producer, Jim Jonsin (Lil Wayne’s “Lollipop,” TI’s “Whatever You Like” & Soulja Boy’s “Kiss Me Thru The Phone”) and most recently hit single "Cry" written and produced by the southern boy himself Randy B.

But, as with any addiction, there is a dark side. For RANDY B. it is that the “risk of investing in myself can be painful. 90% of my music is written, created, and released by me so, the grind of putting yourself out there can be painful.” RANDY B. continues, “thankfully, through the bumps and bruises I have learned to become not only a better businessman, but also a better musician” by translating the trials and tribulations into beautiful records such as “Growing Pains.”

RANDY B. knows the highs one can receive from injecting the right record into the arm of the mainstream and is not shy in understanding what it takes to make it. “No one will ever out hustle me.” So, look for RANDY B. this year to release his debut album on his imprint, Southern Boy or surfing his site, www.randybmusic.com. When asked if he will ever go to rehab to cure him of the habit of music, RANDY B. emphatically states, “no, no, no!”

Grown A$$ Man: KD

Kevin "KD" Dawson was born in the small town of Thomasville, Georgia and is the oldest of three children. Music has always been a part of his life.

Whether singing in the church choir or sneaking to listen to his mothers’ albums, KD found the beats and hooks of artists such as Rick James, New Edition, Al Green, and Michael Jackson influential to him.

He moved to Tallahassee, Florida and after being there a while he meet up with Trigga Man from the southern based group Splack Pack and Mike Colsen of MG Productions. While working with them on various projects, KD laid the hit song Secrets which was then given to DJ-KOOL ANT, who broke the song at a local radio station. This single was # 1 for four weeks on the local circuit and one of the most requested in his hometown.

KD started his own label GawgaBoyEntertainment! which will release his new CD project GROWN A$$ MAN as well as other projects. KD is following in the footsteps of such old school artists such as Marvin Gaye and Teddy Pendergrass and modern artist like Babyface and R. Kelly. KD is destined to become a musical force in this industry.

Florida~Georgia Connect: Dukes of DaVille

Dukes of DaVille Bio: Cedric Lindsey (Ric) and James Small, unknowingly crossed paths many times as young kids. Both were sons of military families, who often moved to the same country or city without ever meeting. In 6th grade fate finally fell upon them on a baseball field at a military base in Hinesville, GA. In the outfield two kindred spirits realized each other was daydreaming about something that had nothing to do with baseball. From that moment on they became best friends determined to make music together. Now in their early twenties, this Atlanta based duo, RicJames, collectively known as Dukes of Da Ville, have skillfully intertwined hip hop lyricism with the soulful harmonies of R&B. Musically, their infectious hooks make instant fans, while their lyrical delivery gains them the respect of the most skilled writers. Their sound is distinctively fresh, with its southern influenced slang and syncopated lyrical delivery. Crossing age, gender, and cultural barriers, their music has universal appeal, displaying their superior vocal abilities and soulful interpretation. "We make Southern hip-hop/funk/soul music; it's kind of hard to pinpoint but we just say we create good music. It's something that you can listen to with your parents." So say the Dukes of DaVille when prompted about their upcoming debut on Capitol/EMI, Time Machine. While this tickling, tantalizing response addresses one question,it begs many more. Namely, how a duo from rural Hinesville, Georgia is poised —as comments on their MySpace page assert— "to bring back music." By the letters, the Dukes of DaVille comprises Ricky Balboa and Jimi Smalls, two army brats who first crossed paths in 1992 on a dusty baseball diamond in Fort Stewart, Georgia. But conjoining James' first name with that of his proclaimed "brother from another mother," the two conjured up the delightful moniker RicJames. It's that sort of subtle cleverness that defines the Dukes. But what of their musical odyssey? And better still, where the heck is Hinesville, Georgia?




Time Machine is nothing if not ambitious. But while many artists attempt a lot, the Dukes of DaVille actually achieve a lot. Their energy, their earnestness damn near leap right into the listener's living room. "I believe we're the most flexible group out right now," James asserts. "We feel like we're placing a standard to other artists; that wasn't our intention, but to the world this is our opening statement. When you pop in Time Machine, expect the unexpected. Going track-to-track, this album is a sigh of relief: `Ah, music is back.' Ric sums up the experience concisely: "The journey, the recording process has been the fun part, the real accomplishment. Along the way, if you don't believe in yourself, why should anyone believe in you?" We believe Ric. Come Spring 2009, so too will you Thank you, thank you, thank u!!! P.S.
